In a significant development aimed at addressing long-standing housing issues, 177 families in Kampung Manis, Penang, are set to receive free homes as part of a comprehensive redevelopment project. This initiative marks a major milestone in resolving the area’s historical squatter problem, which has persisted for over 70 years.
The project, spearheaded by the relevant authorities and developers, involves the provision of 850 square foot apartment units, each valued at approximately RM400,000, to the affected families. These units will be given to the families free of charge, a move that is expected to significantly improve their living conditions.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke, who has been involved in the project, highlighted the importance of this initiative. The redevelopment of Kampung Manis is part of a broader effort to revitalize the area through affordable housing and urban renewal. This project is seen as a landmark step in transforming the lives of the residents and enhancing the overall quality of life in the community.
