Three eateries in George Town have been ordered to close for 14 days after rat droppings were found in their kitchens during an operation conducted by the local authority, the Penang Island City Council (MBPP).
The closure was enforced as part of the council’s efforts to maintain hygiene and food safety standards. The operation was carried out to ensure that food establishments comply with health regulations and to protect public health.
According to the MBPP, the three eateries were found to have significant health violations, including the presence of rat droppings in their kitchen areas. This discovery prompted immediate action to close the establishments until they can meet the required hygiene standards.
