Australian Vinegar Master Ian Henderson Leads Culinary Showcase at Feringgi Grill

Rasa Sayang Resort in Penang will host “A Taste of Australia – Where Provenance Meets Flavour” on 6th November, bringing together award-winning Australian producers and local culinary experts. The week-long event runs from 5 to 11 November at Feringgi Grill, Shangri-La Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa.

The event features Ian Henderson, Master Vinegar Maker from The Australian Vinegar Co., who will demonstrate the craft of vinegar making through an exclusive interview and factory video presentation.

Vivien Lee, Co-Founder and Chairperson of The Model Cook Group of Companies, will open the afternoon session at 2pm. Lee will share the story behind this culinary celebration that connects Australian producers with local food enthusiasts.

Henderson will lead a sensory showcase at 3:30pm, exploring different vinegar varieties and their uses in cooking. Attendees will taste finely sliced cabbage prepared in collaboration with Chef Yeoh Chee Teong, drawing inspiration from Japanese cuisine.

“Vinegar is a chef’s quiet super-power — elevating balance, brightness and depth,” said Ian Henderson, Master Vinegar Maker, The Australian Vinegar Co. “Penang’s food culture is rich and expressive, and I’m excited to explore how thoughtful acidity can enhance its most beloved dishes.”

“Our vision is to show how provenance, technique, and authenticity come together on the plate,” said Ms. Vivien Lee, Co-founder & Chairperson, The Model Cook Group of Companies. “As exclusive distributor of Lirah Australian Vinegar and The Australian Vinegar Co., we are honoured to introduce these award-winning products to Penang’s vibrant culinary scene.”

The afternoon programme includes a presentation on premium Australian ingredients at 4pm, focusing on the produce featured in the upcoming Feringgi Grill Gourmet Event. The session covers the origins, sustainability practices, and flavour profiles of Australian products.

Media representatives will meet the Guest of Honour, Dr. Kate Makin, at 5pm for an informal gathering before the main dinner service.

The evening culminates in a gourmet dinner at 6:30pm at Feringgi Grill. The menu showcases Australian ingredients prepared with the restaurant’s signature tableside service.
