Penang Prepares for Massive Turnout as 10,000 Expected at National Day Celebrations

The state government anticipates that more than 10,000 visitors will attend the 68th Penang state-level National Day celebration at Batu Kawan Stadium on Sunday. Speaker of the Penang State Legislative Assembly, Datuk Seri Law Choo Kiang, who also serves as State Government Official Councils chairman, stated that the event will feature 122 contingents involving 7,533 participants.

These will comprise representatives from various departments, state and federal agencies, statutory bodies, subsidiaries, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

“There will be 22 vehicle contingents involving 958 people with 676 vehicles while the total number of committees and staff involved was 1,531 people. This brings the total number of contingents and secretariats involved this year to 10,072,” said Law in a statement. The celebration will run from 7.30 am to 11.30 am and will include a patriotic song choir performance by Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan (SMJK) Jit Sin, cultural dance performances, a Gendang Muhibah performance, a guard of honour from the Royal Malay Regiment, and displays of vehicle assets from various departments.

Additionally, Law announced that 21 exhibition stalls will be set up by various departments and agencies. There will also be exhibitions of assets and heavy machinery from the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), and the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF), which are expected to attract attendees from all segments of society.

The theme for this year’s celebration is “Malaysia MADANI: Rakyat Disantuni”, reflecting the government’s commitment to strengthening national development with a focus on human values, social well-being, and justice. Dignitaries expected to attend include the Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Ramli Ngah Talib and his wife Toh Puan Raja Noora Ashikin Raja Abdullah, Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow and his wife, along with state leadership, heads of state and federal departments, and other state dignitaries.
