Shangri-La Rasa Sayang Wins Top Honour at Malaysian National Landscape Awards 2025

Shangri-La Rasa Sayang in Penang has claimed the overall champion title at the Malaysian National Landscape Awards 2025. The resort won in the Hotel & Resort Category during the prestigious ceremony held for National Landscape Day.

The 30-acre seaside property impressed judges with its combination of beauty, function, and eco-friendly design. The resort’s gardens feature local inspiration and house diverse tropical plants including heliconia, frangipani, cardamom, screw pine, hibiscus, spiral ginger, bougainvillea, pokok pinang, and rain trees.

Her Highness the Crown Princess Che Puan Mahkota of Johor officiated the award ceremony. Datuk Wira M. Noor Azman, Secretary General of the Ministry of Housing and Local Government, presented the cash prize to the resort’s Chief Engineer, Vicky Vincent.

“We are deeply honoured to receive this recognition,” said Vicky Vincent. “Our landscape is the heart and soul of Rasa Sayang, offering guests a tranquil sanctuary that celebrates Malaysia’s rich biodiversity and natural beauty.”

The Malaysian National Landscape Awards represent the country’s highest recognition for landscape design. The awards celebrate innovation and sustainability across public and private spaces throughout Malaysia.

The resort’s grounds serve as habitat for both guests and local wildlife, creating a natural sanctuary by the sea.
