Google I/O Extended George Town Features AI Development Sessions

Google Developer Groups (GDG) George Town will be hosting Google I/O Extended George Town 2025 on Saturday, 26th July. The event runs from 12:30 PM to 7:00 PM at Masco Co-working Space in George Town.

The developer conference focuses on artificial intelligence and agent development. Sessions cover topics including agentic AI, medical AI applications, and multimodal AI systems.

AI Agent Development Takes Centre Stage

Kuan Hoong Poo presents “Agentic AI with Gemini 2.5 Pro” at 1:20 PM. The session explores autonomous decision-making and dynamic planning using Google’s latest language model.

Gregory Tan addresses AI security in his talk “Securing AI Agents.” The presentation covers threats facing AI agents and defence strategies using Google’s Agent Development Kit.

Christine Tee leads a two-hour workshop on building social event platforms. Participants learn about Agent Development Kit, Agent-to-Agent communication, and Google Cloud Platform deployment.

Medical AI and Multimodal Applications

Lai Fong Leong presents MedGemma, Google’s open model for medical AI. The session covers model overview and practical use cases for healthcare applications.

Esther Irawati Setiawan demonstrates multimodal AI agent development. Her presentation “From Code to Conversation” covers real-time AI applications that process text, images, and audio.

Hands-On Development Workshops

Two practical workshops run simultaneously at 4:00 PM. Adkham Zokhirov leads a session on Gemini AI integration for developers. The workshop covers prompt engineering and chatbot development.

Shang Yi presents Firebase Studio for AI-powered applications. Participants learn about Firebase Genkit and rapid prototyping techniques.

Developer Protocols and Integration

Weiyuan Liu examines MCP and A2A protocols for developers. The session demonstrates multi-agent integrations and central orchestration systems.

The event will conclude with a panel discussion at 6:05 PM, followed by closing remarks and lucky draw at 6:50 PM.
