Penang Marriott Hotel Raises RM40,000 for Children’s Charity Through Bear Sale

A festive fundraising campaign by Penang Marriott Hotel has successfully raised RM40,000 for the Children’s Protection Society (CPS) Penang through the sale of teddy bears.

The hotel’s ‘Beary Merry Christmas’ initiative featured a specially decorated Christmas tree in the lobby, adorned with teddy bears available for purchase at RM99 each. The campaign garnered strong support from hotel guests and the local community, resulting in the sale of 638 bears.

During a handover ceremony, hotel representatives presented the donation to CPS Penang, an organisation that provides education and care for underprivileged children. The event included performances by children from CPS, highlighting the impact of the community’s generosity.

Subash Basrur, General Manager of Penang Marriott Complex, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming response. “Our Beary Merry Christmas campaign is more than a festive celebration, it’s an opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of children in need,” he said.

The newly opened Penang Marriott Hotel, which welcomed its first guests in February 2024, continues to demonstrate its commitment to community engagement. Located on Gurney Drive, the 55-storey property features 223 rooms and modern amenities including an infinity pool, multiple dining venues, and comprehensive business facilities.

The success of this charitable initiative showcases the hotel’s dedication to fostering meaningful community partnerships whilst supporting local causes.
