Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain acknowledged that public perception of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) on social media varies but maintained that people continue to place their trust in the force.
He noted that social media criticism arose from isolated allegations against individual officers, which did not reflect the entire organisation. “The misconduct of a small number of officers should not be used to judge the integrity of the whole force,” he said.
Razarudin cited strong public confidence in PDRM, highlighting instances where police were approached for investigations and assistance. “People still lodge reports and provide information. This shows their trust in our ability to maintain safety and order,” he stated.
He assured that PDRM takes strict action against any personnel involved in misconduct, with the disciplinary board addressing such cases according to regulations. “We will not compromise on matters of integrity. Those found guilty will face appropriate consequences,” he stressed.
He also highlighted ongoing efforts to improve the force’s image through community engagement, crime prevention initiatives, and the strengthening of law enforcement practices.
Razarudin urged the public to assess PDRM based on its overall performance rather than isolated incidents and to continue supporting its efforts in maintaining national security.
